Does my truck need a CVOR to operate in Ontario?
Generally, any commercial vehicle or combination with a registered gross weight over 4,500 kg needs a Commercial Vehicle Operator's Registration (CVOR) to operate legally in Ontario. Requirements vary by vehicle and use, so check with the Ministry of Transportation or contact us if you're unsure.
What's the difference between an annual and a semi-annual inspection?
Annual inspections are required every 12 months for most commercial trucks and trailers over 4,500 kg. Semi-annual inspections, completed every 6 months, typically apply to buses and certain vehicle classes. Both must be done at a licensed inspection facility like ours.
How do I know if my engine needs a rebuild instead of a full replacement?
Warning signs include reduced power, excessive oil consumption, unusual knocking, or blue or black exhaust smoke. A rebuild is often more cost-effective when the engine block is structurally sound, while severe damage usually calls for replacement. Our technicians can diagnose which option fits your truck.
How often should fleet trucks get preventive maintenance?
Ideal intervals depend on vehicle use, mileage, and manufacturer guidelines, but consistent servicing helps catch brake, tire, and fluid issues before they cause breakdowns or inspection failures. We help fleets set up maintenance schedules that fit their operation.
What do Espar heaters do, and why would my truck need one?
Espar air and coolant heaters warm the cab and engine independently of the truck's own engine, letting drivers stay comfortable and pre-heat for cold starts without idling. This can reduce fuel use and engine wear from unnecessary idling. We sell, install, and repair Espar systems.
Why does it matter if my technician is a licensed 310T?
A 310T Truck and Coach Technician license means the technician has completed Ontario's compulsory apprenticeship and certification for trucks, trailers, and buses. Our licensed and Navistar Diamond Certified technicians bring that verified training to every job.
When should I call for mobile or roadside service instead of towing my truck in?
If your truck or equipment breaks down on a job site, farm, or roadside, our mobile units can often handle the repair on site. For major failures needing shop equipment, towing in may be faster. Call us and we'll advise on the best option.
Why get warranty work done at an authorized dealer instead of an independent shop?
Authorized warranty centres like ours use manufacturer-approved parts, tooling, and training for brands such as Navistar and Cummins, which helps ensure repairs meet warranty requirements. Independent shops may not have the same manufacturer resources or authorization. See our dealer partnerships.
